TrackMyPhone News

A few bits of info on TeackMyPhone for you all. First, version 1.1.1 is now available. Not much added other than embedded sounds for push notifications. Web will be updated soon for that.

Next, I’ve been working on account bridging. A little more testing is required, but it should hopefully go live soon.

Finally, some folks outside the US are reporting problems with the app not updating a lot. I’m trying to track down the problem.

App Updates

Current Temperature v4.0.3 is in the App Store and addresses the issue of background crashing.  The auto-update of location information has been turned off for now until I can determine what keeps making it crash.  This update inadvertently removed the retina display icon, so 4.0.3.1 was submitted to include it.  Should be available very soon.

The last few weeks the WeatherAlert server has been testing the near-real-time NOAA alerting.  So far it’s been a huge success and is using a lot less resources.  It’s only been writing the alerts to a log file, but this weekend I should be hitting the switch for it to go live.  One thing to note, Special Weather Statements will not pushed with that.  At least initially.

Have some great feedback and great ideas for TrackMyPhone and will be getting on those soon.  I need to fix and add some things to the web interface first, so that’ll probably be the weekend goal with that app.

Current Temperature v4.0.2 Now Available

Version 4.0.2 of Current Temperature is now available in the App Store.  Just a few minor bug fixes in this update.  More background fixes coming, and looking at the possibility of opening up for worldwide use.

Current Temperature v4.0.2

A minor update to Current Temperature was submitted.  This fixes an issue of the app crashing if a user has Location Services disabled.  The rest of the minor background issues are being worked on.

TrackMyPhone v1.1 Submitted

TrackMyPhone v1.1 has been submitted to Apple.  Instead of waiting for a big release, I decided to submit what I have done so far and continuously add features.  This update has:

  • New App icon (by Keherance) and display name.
  • Updated UI.
  • Can view locations in app on map (last 10 or current).
  • New settings screen.
  • Passkey to unlock the app.
  • For iPhone 4, front camera will take picture on unsuccessful unlock attempt and email it to the address associated with the account.

Should hopefully be in the App Store in a few days.

TrackMyPhone Beta

I’m working on the minor issues for Current Temperature still, but wanted to just say that a lot of work has also been done to TrackMyPhone.  Some really great things are coming with this app.  All of them won’t be in the next update, but I think you’ll like how the app is progressing, especially if you have an iPhone 4.

I’d also like to take a moment to thank the guys at Keherance for the new app icon and splash screen.  The icon was one of the weak spots of the app.  These guys did an amazing job.  You’ll see it soon!

Current Temperature Update

I’ve received a few emails with some minor issues with the latest version of Current Temperature.  I’m working on them right now.  What I’m working on is:

  • If location services are turned off, the app crashes.
  • The “Loading…” view is being called/activated, even when the app is in the background, this should not happen.  It is causing the app to become unresponsive when coming back to the foreground.
  • Make the always-updating background changes optional.

Any other small bugs I find along the way will also be fixed.  With having too many options and preferences, the top bar is going to get cluttered.  I think a generic “Settings” screen is in order, so the UI may change a little bit.
